-music history--I can one day go teach it at a college or something?

-composition, specifically arranging for band--I don't know enough about how band music works but I really do want to transcribe big orchestral works for like high school bands to spread the classical music good news or something. And since I play the oboe, a particularly shitty sounding instrument when played by amateurs and rarely taught properly, I feel like I can disguise this. My general plan is to write music that a) sounds good and b) is fun and has enough to play for everyone. If it isn't particularly difficult, I don't care--people will enjoy playing it if the end result sounds good.

-something journalistic like writing concert and CD reviews--if I could get paid to whine about shitty soundtracks, that would be amazing.

-also I need to learn more about instrument repair and maintenance. And wherever I go to grad school (or if I stay here), I've gotta start teaching lessons.
